Trio One world

Trio One World is a classical crossover project that combines western classical Piano and Indian classical Sitar and Tabla. The band formed by German Pianist Lisa maria Schachtschneider based in Switzerland along with Indian composer and tabla player Udhai Mazumdar based in Switzerland and India and Indian sitarist Rohan Dasgupta, who lives in India and Slovenia.

We play original compositions, ranging from traditional Indian ragas, the audience will have the pleasure of immersing themselves in typical Indian sound worlds in a completely unknown, never heard way thanks to the participating piano.

In addition to our trio pieces that we play in trio, our program includes one or two Hindustani Ragas and Talas for sitar and tabla and the three-part solo piano cycle "Elis" by the Swiss composer Heinz Holliger (*1939). In this work, Holliger uses typical Indian musical elements and rhythms, so that a connection between the Swiss and Indian musical traditions is also established in the solo piano music.

The program reflects diversity and confluence of two major classical music genres of the world with elan.

Especially in today's times, which are characterized by border closures due to measures, fewer travel opportunities and also by sometimes very different ways of dealing with the pandemic and the resulting gaps between peoples and countries, we want with our fusion of western and eastern instruments and the cooperation of musicians :in different continents, we and our audience are again directed towards a global sense of togetherness, towards a "One World".

Music - even if it comes from very different traditions and cultures - connects and transcends borders and differences of opinion in an incomparable way, without words.
